Why matching matters

With many homeowners still willing to invest in windows and doors, amid challenging economic conditions, aluplast has taken action to shore-up the opportunities afforded by its premium aludec and woodec foils, with the introduction of colour-matched trims.

Despite continued pressure on household finances, seemingly constant political uncertainty and a subdued economy, many consumers are still willing to spend – but they won’t part with their hard-earned cash lightly.

For big-ticket items such as windows and doors, this is especially relevant, and for increasingly discerning customers, looks matter and authenticity is key – right down to the finer details.

“Consumers often want the highest quality for the best value when times are tough,” explains aluplast’s Ian Cocken. “When it comes to windows and doors, this could mean opting for the lower price point, superior performance benefits and minimal maintenance requirements of PVC-U, as opposed to aluminium or timber,” he continues.

“But aesthetics – and the associated details – are still a big deal, and we’ve found that PVC-U products that authentically recreate the desirable appearance of high-end aluminium or timber are increasingly popular as a result,” he adds.

Enter aludec and woodec – aluplast’s ultra life-like foil finish options which accurately replicate aluminium and timber, respectively. So much so, argues Ian, that they are “virtually indistinguishable” from the real deal.

Closely emulating the appearance and even feel of aluminium – thanks to textured and smooth options – at a fraction of the cost, aludec is available in seven popular aluminium colours, including Anthracite Grey, Jet Black and Traffic White.

Offering equally convincing looks and tangibility, woodec delivers the warmth of timber without the associated maintenance, with Turner Oak Malt for a subtle light finish; the mid-tone Turner Oak Walnut; and the darker Turner Oak Toffee, among the authentic woodgrains available.

“The entire aluplast range can accommodate our premium woodec and aludec foils,” confirms Ian. “That’s of real benefit because they absolutely have the capability to elevate our products to the next level in terms of aesthetics, and that significantly broadens the flexibility and scope of our offering for fabricators and installers.

“Our Engineered Door, which we unveiled last year, is prime example of this. The use of bolection mouldings, combined with woodec create a replication of timber that’s so accurate, it’s almost indistinguishable from the real thing – and that’s something that has really helped to align this door with the composite, as a genuine rival to it,” he adds.

With the authenticity afforded by woodec and aludec clearly a key sales driver for aluplast, the systems house has shored-up its offer, with the addition of perfectly colour-matched trims.

“Those consumers that are still willing to invest in big-ticket items under tougher economic conditions will only do-so if the product looks and performs just right,” explains Ian. “They are interested in the finer details, and they don’t want aesthetics compromised by mismatched trims that give the game away.

“We’ve left no stone unturned by introducing woodec and aludec colour-matching on these ancillary items, and as a result, we’re giving consumers much greater confidence in their investment, which in turn, makes life much easier for our customers,” he concludes.

Delivering a consistent, premium appearance that eliminates colour discrepancies between the frame and its accessories for seamless integration, aluplast’s comprehensive range of colour-matched trims includes all the components required for complete installation.

This makes aluplast’s full product range, including its flush casement window – available in both the fully sculptured Ideal 70 and contemporary SquareLine Ideal 400 systems; composite-challenging Engineered Door; next generation Ideal neo casement window and neo smart-slide inline sliding door, even easier for fabricators and installers to sell.

Achieving BS6375 for weather tightness and PAS24 for security, neo smart-slide achieves heights of up to 2.5m and a span of 6m with just two panels. And with Passive House standard U-values as low as 0.63W/m2K, it brings all the advantages of PVC-U into a space usually reserved for more expensive aluminium products.

“End-users are increasingly expecting more bang for their buck, so providing trims that perfectly match the frame – on products such neo smart-slide, our flush casement windows or Engineered Door – while a seemingly small detail, is something that really matters,” adds Ian.

“We’re always looking to find ways to give our fabricators and installers a competitive edge and this latest development is something that we believe will really help to ensure that.

“These trims are not just functional components. They contribute to the overall aesthetic appeal and marketability of our window and door systems, particularly when using our premium aludec and woodec foil finishes.

“It’s this next level authenticity and attention to detail, combined with our next generation product range that can really help our fabricator and installer customers stand out – and make the most of every opportunity in a tough market,” Ian concludes.t and crucially, increases margin for our fabricator and installer partners in a challenging economic climate, and that’s what really matters to us,” he concludes.
