Capitalising on colour

With 47 foils available in big volumes, small runs, or even single length supply, aluplast is ensuring its customers can make the most of the opportunities colour presents, in a world where looks are everything.

As individualism continues to dominate popular culture, fuelled largely by the explosion of social media platforms in recent decades, home improvement trends are increasingly reflective of this concept.

The personalisation of living spaces has encouraged consumers to embrace bolder colours, unique textures, and custom features that express their individual personalities and preferences, in a world where looks matter more than ever.

“In the age of Instagram, colour is a key sales driver,” says aluplast’s Ian Cocken. “People want to stand out from the crowd, and quite frankly, white doesn’t cut it anymore.

“If consumers are going to invest in big-ticket items like windows and doors, especially in a subdued economy, the product needs to be bespoke to their individual taste, and that places a significant emphasis on colour choice,” he adds.

Utilising state of the art CNC technology, aluplast produces more than 90,000m of foiled product every day, lowering costs, driving up quality and creating savings which are then passed on to the systems supplier’s customers.

With a choice of 47 foils, including woodgrain, smooth and textured finishes, aluplast offers lead times as short as 15 days on standard colours. Available in large or small volumes, the option of single-length supply also enables fabricators and installers to take on niche orders profitably.

“Our single-length supply offer allows fabricators to manufacture the more unusual window and door colour specifications more cost-effectively, because they can just order what they need, with no excess, unused, product swallowing profits and taking up factory space,” explains Ian.

For those looking to raise the bar even higher, aluplast’s premium aludec and woodec foils offer ultra-life-like finishes that feel as realistic as they look, closely replicating aluminium and timber respectively.

With textured and smooth options that make the high-end aesthetic of aluminium significantly more affordable, aludec is available in colours including Anthracite Grey, Jet Black and Traffic White.

Meanwhile, woodec convincingly creates the visual and tangible characteristics of timber without the associated up-keep, with Turner Oak Malt, Turner Oak Walnut and Sheffield Oak Alpine among the authentic woodgrains available.

“The continuing focus on aesthetics gives premium products made from materials like aluminium and timber increased traction in the market, but that’s at odds with the economic uncertainty that many face right now. This makes the lower price point, superior performance credentials and minimal maintenance requirements of PVC-U best suited to consumers looking to get the most bang for their buck,” says Ian.

“Our next-generation aludec and woodec foils can be combined with any PVC-U product in our range to emulate the appearance of aluminium or timber for a higher-end look at a lower cost, maximising the opportunities for fabricators and installers.”

With these premium finishes extending the limits of what can be achieved with PVC-U, aluplast has reinforced their appeal, with the addition of colour-matched trims and components to remove colour discrepancies between the frame and its accessories.

“Consumers who are still willing to make significant window or door purchases in tougher economic conditions want value for money,” adds Ian. “They don’t want to invest in a high-end look, created with aludec or woodec foils, only to have the effect spoiled by incongruous trims that give the game away.

“Colour-matching on these ancillary items might seem like a little thing, but it makes a big difference to consumers, and its these details that make products like our Engineered Door, for example, even easier for fabricators and installers to sell.”

Revitalising the PVC-U door sector with improved aesthetics and performance, aludec and woodec have been central to the concept of aluplast’s Engineered Door, which provides a viable and more affordable alternative to the composite, while enabling fabricators to increase margin.

The door was a focal point on the aluplast stand at this year’s FIT Show, alongside other innovations including the Ideal neo window and door system, neo smart-slide inline sliding door and aluplast’s new aluminium window and door offer.

“Today’s consumers want windows and doors that make a statement, and with close to 50 foil finish options, all compatible with our full PVC-U product range, we’re well placed to help them do just that,” concluded Ian.

“With big volumes and small runs to suit, including single lengths, as well as colour-matched trims for seamless integration between the frame and accessories, we’re giving our fabricators and installers a competitive edge that will help them win business and take on colour jobs profitably.”
